From Bez Pass (Ardeche) to Barre-des-Cevennes (Lozere)

The GR®72, spanning 100 km, begins at the Col du Bez. The path traverses Saint-Laurent-les-Bains, renowned for its thermal springs, before ascending towards the Notre Dame des Neiges Abbey and La Bastide-Puylaurent, then reaching the Col du Thort on the watershed. The trail descends to Prévenchères, where you can find an ancient lime tree and a Romanesque church with a comb bell tower. A bit further, La Garde-Guérin, an old medieval stronghold, offers stunning views of the Gorges du Chassezac. The hike continues towards Villefort and its lake, followed by the climb to Mont Lozère, the highest point of the route, providing spectacular panoramic views of the Cévennes. Descending from Mont Lozère, hikers arrive at Pont de Montvert, a historic village marked by the wars of religion. Finally, the path leads to Cassagnas and concludes at Barre-des-Cévennes.
