GR®364 From Poitou to Ocean

From Plein-Bois (Vienne) to Sables-d'Olonne (Vendee)

Starting from Plein-Bois, the hike begins in a typical rural setting of Poitou. The first kilometers take you through orchards, cereal fields, and deciduous forests. The hedgerow-lined paths provide a glimpse of the local biodiversity, with opportunities to observe songbirds and other wildlife. As you cross the Deux-Sèvres, the GR®364 reveals varied landscapes, including river valleys and marshes. When the trail approaches Vendée, the scenery begins to change. The hills transform into dunes and beaches, preparing hikers for the arrival at the ocean. The views of the Atlantic and the expansive sandy beaches, such as those in Les Sables-d'Olonne, offer breathtaking vistas of the marine horizon.
