From Arles (Bouches-du-Rhone) to Ruburent Pass (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence)

The GR®69, stretching 404 km, follows the historical paths of transhumance. Starting from Arles, the trail crosses the Crau plain, a vast expanse of dry meadows, before entering the Var department via Salon-de-Provence and Aix-en-Provence, where hikers can discover charming Provençal architecture. Upon entering the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the GR®69 traverses the Valensole plateau, renowned for its stunning lavender fields. The trail continues towards Digne-les-Bains, a spa town nestled among mountains, before ascending towards Seyne-les-Alpes and Barcelonnette in the Ubaye valley. The route then reaches the Col de Ruburent, an Alpine pass on the border between France and Italy. The GR®69 continues into Italy, through the Stura valley, offering a unique cross-border hiking experience.
