From the Pastoral Cabin of Thures to the Oratory of Saint Roch (Hautes-Alpes)

The GR®5B hiking trail embarks from the Pastorale des Thures Cabin, a unique landmark often spotted from the peak of the Aiguille Rouge. Nestled in the commune of Nevache, within the Briançonnais region, this cabin serves as a significant cornerstone of pastoralism in the Hautes-Alpes and is a common refuge for shepherds. The trail then advances towards the Echelle Pass, a mountain pass situated merely six kilometers from the Italian border. This pass establishes a connection between the village of Nevache, nestled in the Claree valley, and the Etroite valley. The actual transition point between these two valleys is found at an elevation of 1779 meters, slightly to the north of the Echelle Pass official location, at a place known as Mauvais Pas. Ultimately, the GR®5B culminates at the Saint Roch Oratory, another remarkable site of interest in the Hautes-Alpes.
