Nancy is famous for its Stanislas Square, featuring 18th-century architecture. As they follow the trail, hikers pass through Lunéville, known for its 18th-century château, which was the residence of the Dukes of Lorraine. The picturesque churches of villages like Saint-Quirin and Abreschviller also reflect the rich religious heritage of the region. In the fir and beech forests, hikers may spot deer, wild boars, and a multitude of birds, such as the green woodpecker and the common buzzard. The region is also known for its wildflower species, including orchids and wood anemones. Strasbourg has a long and fascinating history that dates back to Roman times when it was known as "Argentoratum." It is famous for its architecture, particularly the Notre-Dame Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic style. Its spire, rising to 142 meters, was the tallest building in the world at the time. The historic center of Strasbourg, the Grande Île, is filled with half-timbered houses and canals.
