GR®509 Great crossing of Jura

From Mandeure (Doubs) to Culoz (Ain)

The GR®509 allows hikers to discover a variety of typical Jura landscapes. Starting from Mandeure, hikers delve into lush valleys, dense forests, limestone plateaus, and panoramic ridges. The trail passes through iconic sites such as the Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park. The Jura is a refuge for many bird species, including raptors like the golden eagle and the peregrine falcon. The forests also shelter songbirds such as the blackbird and the warbler. Hikers may encounter emblematic species like the chamois, the ibex, and the deer. The region is also home to the lynx, a discreet animal. Additionally, the area is rich in artisanal traditions such as the production of Comté and Morbier cheese.
