From Wissant (Pas-de-Calais) to Bailleul (Nord)

The history of the GR®128 is closely linked to that of the Flanders region, a crossroads between France and Belgium. This route follows ancient paths that have been used by merchants and peasants for centuries. Along the hike, walkers can discover remnants of local history, such as churches, mills, and typical houses that bear witness to a rich architectural past. The picturesque villages, such as Cassel and Steenvoorde, provide a glimpse into rural Flemish life, with their brick houses and hedged landscapes. The scenery is highly diverse, ranging from the fine sandy beaches of Wissant to the hills of Flanders. The hike begins on the Opal Coast, where steep cliffs and dunes blend with a preserved coastline. As one moves inland, the landscape changes to reveal lush green hills and fields stretching as far as the eye can see.
