GR®11 Around Pays d'Ile de France

GR®11 Tour du Pays d'Île-de-France

The GR®11 long-distance hiking trail, also known as the Tour du Pays d'Île-de-France, is a long loop around the capital, revealing the richness of the Île-de-France region beyond its urban density. The landscape it traverses is remarkably diverse, alternating between vast national forests (Rambouillet, Fontainebleau), agricultural plains and the river valleys of the Seine and Oise. Historical and architectural heritage is omnipresent: the GR®11 connects medieval towns, royal châteaux and vestiges of Île-de-France's history. The flora is dominated by oak and beech forests, symbols of former hunting grounds, while the fauna is well represented, including deer, roe deer and a rich birdlife. The history of this trail is one of a link between nature and culture in the cradle of the French nation.
