GR®131From Mont-Beuvray (Morvan) to Issy-l'Eveque (Saone-et-Loire) |
This trail begins at a key site in Celtic history: the oppidum of Bibracte, the ancient capital of the Aedui, where Vercingetorix was proclaimed leader of Gaul. Heritage is omnipresent, from the archaeological excavations at Mont Beuvray to the discreet Romanesque churches that dot the route, bearing witness to millennia of human occupation in the heart of Burgundy. Geographically, the route meanders through the hills of Lower Burgundy, offering an alternation between wooded ridges and hedged valleys. The landscapes are characterized by a wild and unspoiled nature, where the dense beech and coniferous forests of the Morvan gradually give way to the verdant pastures of the Saône-et-Loire. Hikers will discover a rich biodiversity, punctuated by peat bogs and small streams.

Distance: 103km, Elevation maximum: 813m, Elevation minimum: 249m, Elevation gain uphill: 2175m
