The Urban V Way is a journey across the Massif Central toward the Mediterranean, retracing the fate of Guillaume de Grimoard, the only 14th-century French pope originally from Gevaudan. The trail sets off across the high plateaus of Aubrac, a granite territory where the silence is only broken by the clinking of herd bells. Descending toward the Lot Valley, hikers discover an exceptional religious heritage, a direct legacy of medieval piety, before tackling the rugged slopes of Mount Lozere and the heart of the Cevennes. The high pastures give way to the fragrant scrublands (garrigues) of the Gard, passing through Uzes and its elegant towers. The journey ends in a grand finale before the Palais des Papes in Avignon, after crossing the Rhone River.
