GR®782 Henri IV WayFrom Lourdes (Hautes-Pyrenees) to Artiguelouve (Pyrenees-Atlantiques) |
The GR782, better known as the Chemin Henri IV (Henri IV Trail), follows the ridgeline separating the plains of Béarn from the Pyrenean valleys. Starting from the Marian city of Lourdes, this trail follows an ancient route that the future King of France is said to have traveled to reach Pau. The route offers exceptional 360-degree panoramic views, with the snow-capped Pyrenees on one side and verdant hillsides on the other. Heritage is omnipresent, marked by ancient boundary stones, Roman ruins, and the typical rural architecture of the Hautes-Pyrénées and Pyrénées-Atlantiques departments. Along the way, passing through charming villages and flowery heaths highlights the ecological diversity of this natural balcony. The adventure ends in Artiguelouve, on the outskirts of Pau, after traversing landscapes of heath and woodland that seem to have changed little since the 16th century.

Distance: 48km, Elevation maximum: 520m, Elevation minimum: 145m, Elevation gain uphill: 321m
