The route of the GR®221 is dotted with remarkable historical and architectural sites. In Coutances, the cathedral, with its flamboyant Gothic style, is a must-see. Along the way, visitors can admire typical half-timbered houses, chapels, and historical monuments. Verneuil d’Avre et d’Iton, for its part, is famous for its medieval heritage, notably the Clock Tower and the Saint-Jean Church. Hikers can observe a variety of wildlife species, ranging from migratory birds to small mammals. The presence of wetlands and forests provides a privileged habitat for many species. Regarding the flora, the flowering meadows, rapeseed fields, and hedgerows create an exceptional natural setting.
