Tour de France on foot

Hiking starting from Reims

Français

Starting in Reims, the city of coronations, this 8,264 km tour of France begins on the Via Francigena, a medieval link to the peaks of the GR®5. From the mineral Alps to the Via Aurelia, marked by Roman ruins, the route then plunges into the rugged wilderness of the Pyrenees via the iconic GR®10. The journey north follows the Via Turonensis, a major artery of the Camino de Santiago, before embracing the granite ridges of the Breton GR®34. Between the moors of the GR®223 and the vertiginous chalk cliffs of the GR®21, hikers brave the sea spray to the northern dunes of the GR®120. This ribbon of trails weaves a rare ecological mosaic, connecting snow-capped peaks and rugged coastlines. Throughout this journey, centuries of architecture and biodiversity unfold at the contemplative pace of walking. The adventure ends in a loop on the Francigena.

Tour de France on foot

Hiking the long-distance trails (GR®) is the most intimate way to discover France, taking the time to truly experience its landscapes and history. This network, spanning thousands of kilometers, allows you to traverse landscapes of rare diversity, passing in just a few days from Alpine peaks to the wild coasts of Brittany. The reason for this approach lies in a quest for disconnection and simplicity, far removed from the immediacy of digital technology. On foot, heritage reveals itself in a new light: you discover isolated abbeys, schist villages, or Genoese towers inaccessible by road. It is also a physical challenge that strengthens your connection with nature, between the scent of the maquis and the silence of the high plateaus. Exploring France via the GR® trails ultimately means experiencing a living geography where each step becomes a lesson in culture and biodiversity. This slow, deliberate journey transforms a simple trip into a genuine human and sensory adventure, revealing an authentic and unspoiled France.
