GR®96

From Samoens (Haute-Savoie) to Aix-les-Bains (Savoie)

The GR®96, stretching 207 km, heads towards Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, renowned for its natural cirque and majestic waterfalls. The trail then crosses through Magland, Le Reposoir, and Entremont, where the landscapes diversify with deep valleys and tumultuous rivers. La Balme-de-Thuy marks an important stage with its steep cliffs. Upon arriving in Annecy, a historic lakeside town often nicknamed the "Venice of the Alps", hikers can enjoy the beauty of its canals and architecture. The path continues towards Leschaux, La Chapelle-Saint-Maurice, Le Chatelard, Lescheraines, Arith, Pugny-Chatenod, and Mouxy, two perched villages offering stunning panoramas of Lake Bourget. Finally, the GR®96 reaches Aix-les-Bains, a spa town renowned for its beneficial waters and rich historical heritage.
