The GR®3C is a captivating hiking trail that meanders through the scenic departments of Loiret and Loir-et-Cher. It forms a picturesque link from Gien to Huisseau-sur-Cosson, passing through charming locales such as Saint-Gondon, Coullons, Cerdon, Isdes, Vannes-sur-Cosson, Ménestreau-en-Villette, Ligny-le-Ribault, La Ferté-Saint-Cyr, Bracieux, and Mont-prés-Chambord. Spanning an impressive distance of approximately 150 km, this trail offers a rich tapestry of natural beauty and historical intrigue.
The trail traverses the Sologne region, a veritable haven of biodiversity. Here, forests teem with oaks, pines, and chestnuts, creating a lush habitat for a diverse range of fauna, including deer, wild boar, roe deer, pheasant, and duck.
The Sologne region is steeped in history, having been home to various civilizations from the Gauls to the Romans, and the Franks. During the Middle Ages, it gained renown as a favored hunting ground for royalty.
